Item Number B0182:
Exceptional Biedermeier style, Viennese regulator with convex dial and beautiful pressed bezel.
Price: NOW ON HOLD:
Beautiful circa 1850 Biedermeier Vienna regulator in Cherry case. This Vienna regulator is of classic design and proportions with beautifully detailed crown and tail. The single train movement features dead beat escapement, and beat regulation. This is an unusual clock possibly attributable to famous maker of Elsner & Petrovits.
The clock is approximately 43" long . It is 12" wide at it's widest.
The dial is convex and nearly perfect. The pendulum stick is made from wood. The pendulum bob brass on both brass. The glass is old wavy glass.
There is a similar Elsner & Petrovits dachluhr (rundtop) featured in the Rick Ortenburg book “Vienna Regulators and Factory Clocks” on page 25. Notice the hands, convex dial, and pressed bezel are very similar. Both have an 8 day movement with the traditional wooden seat board mounting.
Caveats: The crown is likely to be a later replacement. I have replaced the porcelain beat scale (pictured) with a more proper silvered brass one.
This clock is really terrific , it runs well and keeps good time. This clock would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
